Virtual Academy
EF Virtual Information
- EF virtual is asynchronous in grades (5-12), the student works through a series of modules and needs to log-on as many days as we have school days in a week for attendance purposes. There is no live instruction. Students have told me it’s a little more challenging than traditional school. A good rule of thumb is at least 4-6 hours a school day. Teachers will respond to questions via email, within a reasonable manner.
Students use either Edgenuity platform (5-12) and Accelerate Learning (K-4) depending on the grade level. Accelerate Learning will have a synchronous option.
2. Intakes/Orientations do not begin until school starts. Your child will be excused until the intake takes place. Ms. Thurston, the cyber coordinator will make arrangements with you.
3. High School Students - Parking passes for 11th and 12th are forfeited for the remainder of the year. If they are a Steel Center Student transportation to either our school at 11:30 or Steel Center must be provided by the parent or guardian.
4. High School Students - Electives may change – unfortunately EF Cyber does not offer all the specialized classes, such as Esports or FabLab. The closest type of elective will be chosen. Your child will still earn the amount of credits they had going into the semester. This only applies to High School Students.
5. High School Students Only - AP + Honors – your child will be placed in the regular sections. Again, EF cyber course catalog is not as large as our regular offerings.
6. Students with IEPs - are HIGHLY URGED to stay in-person. If your student is a student IEP and simply not able to attend in-person, Marc Bellora, will be the Special Educator designed to modify any IEPs to indicate virtual learning. The cyber special education teacher should have an IEP meeting and include the regular case manager/principal/and counselor. After the school year, any student with an IEP must have an IEP meeting before transferring into the program.
7. ALL STUDENTS - Joe McManus will be the virtual counselor for grades 9-12. Crista Scalfari will be the virtual counselor for grades 6-8.
8. ALL STUDENTS- Your student must come in for state assessments. It is the parent’s responsibility to contact the appropriate school and make arrangements.
9. ALL STUDENTS - Transfers (in or out) should happen at the grading periods. Exceptions can be administratively approved via the building principal and cyber principal.
