Dr. Mary Carole Perry has served in both private and public education for more than 20 years. She began her public education career in the Elizabeth Forward School District and has held a variety of leadership roles, including School Social Worker, Dean of Students, Assistant High School Principal, and Elementary School Principal. In 2023, she was appointed Assistant Superintendent of the Elizabeth Forward School District.

Dr. Perry earned her Bachelor’s and Master of Social Work degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and a School Counselor Certification from Chatham University. She later completed a Master’s degree in Education and obtained her Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from California University of Pennsylvania, followed by a Doctoral degree from Point Park University. Her dissertation examined the role of rural elementary principals in improving student mental health outcomes, reflecting her strong belief that student well-being is essential to academic success.

Dr. Perry values collaboration among educators, families, business leaders, community organizations, and higher education partners to create meaningful opportunities for students. She believes strong relationships with students and families form the foundation for a positive learning experience. In recognition of her commitment to supporting children and families, she received the United Way “Be There” Award in 2016.

During her tenure as an elementary principal at Central Elementary, in 2019, the school was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. She also guided faculty and staff in integrating Apple technology and personalizing instruction, resulting in the school’s designation as an Apple Distinguished School.

Having served at Elizabeth Forward School District for nearly two decades, Dr. Perry has witnessed and played an active role in the evolution of the district’s innovative practices, all focused on supporting the whole child and ensuring every student’s academic, social, and emotional needs are met.
