About Elizabeth Forward School District
The Elizabeth Forward School District comprises the townships of Elizabeth, Forward, and the Borough of Elizabeth, encompassing a combined land of 43.3 square miles along the Monongahela River in the southeastern corner of Allegheny County. The school district is located approximately 15 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. The school district was formed in 1955 due to a merger with the schools in Elizabeth Borough, Elizabeth Township, and Forward Township. The Westmoreland County border lies to the east of the school district, and the Washington County border lies to the southwest. The district's population, based on 2020 data, is approximately 17,642. The student enrollment is about 2,507, declining from a high of 2,900 students in 2007. The School District is a third-class school district and operates under the school code as amended and supplemented. The School District is governed by a nine-member board of school directors comprised of residents. The Superintendent of Schools oversees the district operations. The budget for the 2023 school year was $49,367,753. The total employment of the school district comprises approximately 300 administrative, professional/instructional, and classified support staff.
