Scholarships Administered by the Elizabeth Forward Alumni and Friends Association to be Awarded in the 2020-2021 School Year
To Students and Alumni who wish to apply for a scholarship: The scholarships listed below will be awarded to EFHS seniors graduating in June 2021.

Students attending a four-year college or university | Bonnie Bashforth Memorial Scholarship | $500 | Applicants should provide evidence that he/she challenges him/herself amidst obstacles while sustaining academic excellence and personal accountability, and applicants should demonstrate a financial need. |
EFSAF Michael Fleischauer Memorial Scholarship | $2,000 | Applicants must provide evidence that he/she has met challenges amidst obstacles while sustaining academic excellence and personal accountability. Financial need should be documented. | |
Larry Landini Memorial Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants must have a sustained record of academic excellence and demonstrated leadership skills through extra-curricular and/or community service involvement. | |
Scagline Family Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants must have a sustained record of participation and leadership roles in community service and/or school extra-curricular activities and have a 3.00 or higher GPA. | |
William E. & Louise Shank Memorial Scholarship | $2,000 | Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence, leadership, and citizenship. | |
Students attending a two- or four-year college or university | EFSAF Dr. Frank R. Bondi Memorial Scholarships | Three at $2,000 | Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and participation in extra-curricular activities, community activities, and personal development and responsibility activities. |
Elizabeth Forward Alumni and Friends Association Scholarship | $2,000 | Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and participation in extra-curricular activities, especially community service. | |
Francis E. Pomilio Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants should have a sustained academic effort with an emphasis on English, speech, or music; participated in extra-curricular activities and have completed community service and/or have a record of employment. | |
Students attending a technical/trade school, or two-or four-year college or university | Richard Simpson Scholarship | $750 | Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence. |
Students attending a trade school or community college | Martin and Pat Craighead Scholarship | $5,000 | Applicants should have demonstrated a strong work ethic and a proven commitment to the values of integrity and team work as well as sustained academic effort. |
Lawrence Howell, Sr. and Elaine Miller Howell Memorial Scholarship | $1,500 | Applicants must plan to attend an accredited trade school or community college and have a sustained record of academic excellence and attendance. | |
Students whose parents did not graduate from college | Peter F. Vaira Sr. & Mary Vaira Memorial Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence. This scholarship is intended for a first-generation college student–one whose parents did not earn a college degree. |
Students who have dealt successfully with a disability, physical challenge, or chronic medical condition | Goydan Family Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants must be a graduating senior who has dealt successfully with an intellectual, physical, or developmental disability; a physical challenge; or a chronic medical condition. The recipient can use the award to further his/her education, help pay for continuing health care expenses, and/or for mental/physical therapy and equipment. |
Students who have an IEP or students without an IEP who will pursue a special education major | Anita Kornosky Memorial Scholarship | $1,500 | Applicants with an IEP should intend to pursue post-secondary training and applicants without an IEP should intend to pursue a major in special education. All applicants, regardless of IEP status, must have minimum 2.5 grade point average. |
Students who have excelled in academics and athletics | Norman R. Candelore Sr. Academic and Athletic Memorial Scholarship | $1,500 | Applicants must have been a member of an EFHS varsity sport and should have a sustained record of academic excellence and participation in extracurricular and community activities. |
Staff Sergeant Bryan Hoover Memorial Scholarship | $500 | Applicants must have been a member of the EFHS Cross Country and/or Track and Field Team. Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and participation in extra-curricular activities and community service. | |
T.D. Club Football Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants must have been a member of the EFHS Football team during their senior year, should have a sustained record of academic excellence in high school, and be a well-rounded student involved in extra-curricular activities, leadership, volunteerism, and/or community service. | |
Students who will attend a technical or vocational school or study to become a nurse | Harriett Colebank Hebenthal Technical, Vocational, or Nursing Program Scholarship | $1,500 | Applicants must plan to attend a technical or vocational school or enroll in a nursing program and have a sustained record of school attendance, academics and citizenship. |
Students who will major in education | Four Friends Education Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants must intend to major in education and have a sustained record of academic excellence and be a well-rounded student involved in school activities and community service. Elementary education majors will receive preference. |
Students who will major in engineering, science (or science education), technology, mathematics, or information technology | James and Viola Jones Scholarship | $1,500 | Applicants must intend to study as a full-time student to pursue a major within the STEM areas (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). |
Cindy Miller Ollendyke Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants must intend to study as a full-time student to pursue a degree in a STEM field or in science education and have a sustained record of academic excellence and participated in school activities. | |
Carl and Patsy Pro STEM Scholarship | $500 | Applicants must intend to study as a full-time student to pursue a degree in science, technology, engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and have a sustained record of academic excellence, leadership, and citizenship. | |
Students who will major in health-related field | Gracie M. Jones Memorial Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants must intend to pursue a career as a professional in a health care field, have a sustained record of academic excellence, and have demonstrated leadership and citizenship through volunteer service to others through scouts, church, community, school activities, etc. |
Students who want to pursue a career in public service | Rendin/Lisi FBI Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants must intend to pursue a career in public service as a full-time student at a four-year college. Preference will be given to applicants wishing to go into some form of law enforcement but other areas of study such as military, legal, accounting, computer science, foreign language, and science will also be considered. Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence and participation in extra-curricular activities, especially community service. |
Students who will attend a faith-based college or university | Darla J. Twale Faith-Based College/University Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants must be accepted and plan to attend a faith-based college or university and demonstrates academic excellence, participates in worthwhile activities and service to others, and holds active church membership. |
Students attending specific colleges | R. T. Long Penn State Scholarship | $1,000 | Applicants must intend to study as a full-time student at any Penn State University campus. Applicants should have a sustained record of academic excellence, leadership, and citizenship. |
Carol Jean McKenzie Maurer Westminster College Scholarship | $2,500 | Applicants must intend to study as a full-time student at Westminster College. This scholarship is intended for the student who challenges him/herself, gets good grades, participates in worthwhile activities, and makes good decisions for personal satisfaction and accountability rather than public accolades. Students majoring in secondary education and/or demonstrating financial need may be given preference. |
