WILLIAM PENN ELEMENTARY WINS THE ELIZABETH FORWARD GOVERNOR’S FITNESS CHALLENGE

The Governor’s Fitness Challenge is a PANA (Pennsylvania Advocates for Nutrition and Activity) sponsored activity designed to encourage children to lead a healthy life balancing nutrition and activity.  Students submitted their minutes of activity and school nurses converted them to miles.  The accumulated miles were used for “educational trips” to Pennsylvania historic landmarks and marked on a Pennsylvania map. When a landmark was reached interesting facts about the area was posted on the map so students learned more about our state. EF sponsored a contest between our 5 elementary schools to encourage participation. William Penn students won accumulating a total of 6,904 miles.  Top winners from William Penn (traveling 250 miles or more) are pictured with Judy Mirro R.N. and Brad Simala, principal.
