Social Studies
....with Mrs. Guzewicz
In social studies, we will be studying the 5 regions of our great country – the United States of America. Students will be expected to learn the states and capital cities in each region. (At the end of the school year, students will be tested on all 50 states & capitals!) They will also visit several important locations/sites as we “tour” each region. We will explore geographic, economic, social, and historic aspects as well.
Students will be responsible for keeping a social studies notebook containing important information and notes from each chapter. We will work on these notebooks together in class. Please ask your child to see his/her notebook occasionally.
Our textbook, Social Studies Alive: Regions of Our Country is available to view on-line. Several of the chapters also have review games. Once I have created the account, each student will receive their own username and password which will allow them to access their textbook on-line. Please watch for this information. There will be a link to the website on the webpage under social studies.
