Dear Parent/Guardian,
Welcome back! I hope you and your family had a relaxing summer vacation, and are ready to begin the new year with us at Central Elementary. The opening of the 2007-2008 school year for all students is scheduled for Monday, August 27, 2007. Please note that the first day in the school year is a full day.
We are in the midst of some exciting changes and are thrilled to take you along for the ride. We anticipate a number of new teachers in our building that will compliment our already highly professional staff. We’re implementing flexible reading groups, across the board K-2, to ensure that every child that leaves this building can read on grade level. The new playground will allow our kids to participate in purposeful, structured play during their school day. Our new recess before lunch program will help prevent bellyaches, wasted food, and discipline problems. Of course, we appreciate your support this school year as we build new bridges from school to your home.
Meaningful home-school partnerships are built through open and honest communication. As the school year progresses, please remain in regular contact with your child’s teacher. After all, the classroom teacher sees your child every day, and is the expert when it comes to their academic and behavioral progress. If you need to contact a teacher during the instructional day (8:55 A.M.-3:40 P.M.), leave a message with the secretary, and they’ll return your call as soon as possible. In the event that you need to reach me, simply call our main office.
With the first year under my belt, I promise to work even harder to make Central the jewel of the district. May the 2007-2008 school year be a happy and successful year for your child. |
